Brianna Alvarez is a role model to me this year. I have known her since she was part of the Weston Student Council when I served as president. For this entire time, she has been known as the most spirited person anybody has ever met. Her creative outfits that never miss a spirit day are what keep people energized. She is also a very fun person to be around as she talks about some of the most random things and has a great sense of humor. What others may not know about is the intense struggles she has overcome in her personal life. I admire how Brianna continues to always show up as her authentic self even when making the absolute best praises, venting to a friend, obsessing over tik tok men, and ranting about missing Veterans Day. She is doing so well as our Senior Class Publicity Officer, way better than I did last year, which is so important when so many students are relying upon our officer team for a great final sort of experience. She takes on the pressures of Leadership and tough courses such as Spanish so while she may not always perform at the top of her class, she is doing her best and being her best self while doing it. I love seeing how Brianna has grown as both a leader and a person over the span of five years. I hope that she continues to do awesome things for the Senior Class and finds the place that is perfect for her when moving beyond Ripon High.

My spirit animal is a penguin. In the chilly, majestic arctic, penguins carefully and thoughtfully live their lives each day. They work creatively and collaboratively on the effort of survival as they are tasked with trekking across expanses of white ice. They are very goal oriented with a determined mindset and a planned destination. Their ways of affection are unique and often misunderstood but are expressed openly even in the most trying of circumstances. There is a certain courageous aspect behind their actions as they entire the world into an unknown. They could be caring for an egg in one minute and devoured by a sea lion in the next. However, their careful considerations and clever executions sustain the way of life that keeps them going each day. Unlike a lot of creatures, the penguin is quite active

Alizeh has done so well putting herself fully into her first year of Leadership. I remember when she volunteered to run the water station at the Halloween Dance. I stopped by and talked to her for a while as she made sure everyone was taken care of. She sorted the empty water bottles and watched people’s treasured belongings behind the table for the entire duration of the dance. I enjoyed talking with her and getting to know her better. She encouraged me to jump out onto the dance floor and have fun being my best self. She is overall a great person to be around and I can always count on her to get things done. In addition, Alizeh comes up with the most creative ideas and isn’t afraid to pursue putting them into action. I love that she is someone who I can talk to and that we have become such great friends this year. She is the ultimate change maker and I cannot wait to see all she will accomplish in the future to positively impact the communities she engages with. |
One thing I have found new enjoyment in doing is traveling. When living in a small town, it is so easy to get wrapped up in my immediate surroundings. However, there is a whole world beyond that I am yet to experience. Going off to college has made me think a lot about travel because it will be the first time I go off independently into a new place and have choice over my best decisions. My first transition into this was getting a driver’s license. At first, I was very nervous because I would have to navigate new places and experiences with little familiarity to fall back upon. Now I have Google Maps filled with markers of where I hope to eventually visit and any free time is a chance to go on one of those adventures.
